The main requirements are a compatible Garmin chartplotter (ECHOMAP or GPSMAP series), a trolling motor with sufficient shaft length for the transducer mount, and a dedicated 12V power source. LiveScope Plus (LVS34) offers improved range, better target separation in deeper water, and more stability at higher boat speeds compared to the original LVS32. For most inshore and freshwater bass fishing, the original LiveScope is more than enough. If you're fishing 50+ feet regularly or in high-current water, Plus is worth the upgrade. Yes, LiveScope requires a compatible Garmin chartplotter connected via Garmin Marine Network. Compatible units include the ECHOMAP UHD2 series, GPSMAP 8400/9x3/1x3 series, and others. If your current chartplotter isn't compatible, we can quote a display upgrade at the same time as the LiveScope install.

Perspective Mode is a side-scanning configuration that gives you a real-time aerial view of what's beside your boat as you move. It's become the dominant sonar system at elite bass tournaments because it lets you see fish relating to cover — laydowns, docks, brush piles — in real time from the side. It requires a specific pole mount positioned correctly relative to your boat. If you're a serious tournament angler, yes — it's worth it. If you're recreational, standard LiveScope forward/down mode is more than enough.

A standalone LiveScope installation typically takes 1–2 days depending on your boat's existing wiring and whether we're integrating with other electronics. If you're combining it with a Suzuki repower, we schedule both together. Current lead time for installations is 2–4 weeks from drop-off — let us know if you have a tournament date and we'll factor that in when quoting.

Garmin LiveScope transducer mounting refers to the physical positioning of the LVS32 or LVS34 transducer on your trolling motor shaft or pole mount. The angle, depth, and lateral position of the transducer directly determine image quality. A transducer mounted too shallow loses bottom contact in rough water. Too deep and it creates turbulence that degrades the image. The wrong angle means you're not seeing what you think you're seeing. We verify transducer position on the water — not on the trailer — before every handoff.

Not every chartplotter that worked with LiveScope Plus is compatible with LiveScope 2; Garmin has to enable support on a model-by-model basis. LiveScope 2 connects via a Garmin Marine Network port using the GMN1 adapter (included in the box), or directly via BlueNet port on the new GPSMAP 9000 series. Having a network port is required but not sufficient on its own.
